Irvine, Feb 21, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - ZeroOutages, a service division of XRoads Networks, and a leader in SD-WAN deployments, today announced the launch of its CloudDMZ services. The CloudDMZ service enables customers to deploy application delivery (data center servers) through an extended LAN environment with a one-hop performance from the customer's network to their private CloudDMZ infrastructure.
The CloudDMZ service is designed to assist customers and their MSP partners with the task of virtualizing the local area network (VDI, VoIP, security, etc), by essentially putting the customer's data center within the ZeroOutages global SD-WAN network.
Virtualization is the process of moving critical network components from the local area network to the cloud. The CloudDMZ service accelerates this process by placing these cloud components directly on-net with the rest of the organizations' secure SD-WAN infrastructure.
Some of the benefits of ZeroOutages CloudDMZ service include improved security, greater resiliency of the network connectivity, easier deployment of new application servers, and fewer network hops between the customer's local area network and their mission-critical application servers.
Each CloudDMZ service is deployed as a separate private network for each customer; all network traffic is segmented and secured. Customers access their CloudDMZ infrastructure via a private Layer-3 cloud which stretches across ZeroOutages global SD-WAN network to each of the customers' offices.
"Our goal with the CloudDMZ service was to deliver on the promise of SD-WAN. This service assists our customers with lowering costs and improving both the performance and portability of their mission-critical applications." - Daren French, VP Business Development, ZeroOutages
A key promise of SD-WAN has been the ability to lower costs for new customers by up to 50%. While this has been accomplished in some cases by eliminating expensive MPLS circuits, not all customers have seen this reduction in costs. ZeroOutages believes that these types of savings could be achieved through the virtualization of existing local area network components.
In general, virtualization is the process of moving as many IT components to the cloud as possible. This process started in the early 2000s when enterprise customers began out-sourcing their data centers to third-party providers. However, while some of the infrastructures was moved to the data center, much still remained within the local area network due to concerns over reliability and security.
Smaller organizations have yet to fully embrace cloud virtualization and still host most of their critical infrastructure within their own offices. Even PBX's which have been enabled for VoIP, are still typically hosted on the local area network.
Additionally, organizations of all sizes have been slow to virtualize the desktop. Desktop virtualization could save customers hundreds of dollars per desktop per year if implemented. Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) has matured to a point where it has become reliable, however in order to deploy these services organizations need a highly resilient and secure wide-area-network back to the VDI host.
By providing customers with a local on-net "extended LAN" environment via CloudDMZ, ZeroOutages provides the security, redundancy and one-hop infrastructure required to deliver on the value of virtualization and the promise of SD-WAN.
