Laurel Wellness’ updates include sessions that incorporate elements of acupuncture, moxa therapy, cupping, gwa sha, tuina/massage, electric acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, medical qi gong, and reiki, depending on the needs of the individual.

Though Laura is an acupuncturist by education and studied at the prestigious New England School of Acupuncture, her intuition and sensitivity have been with her from a young age. Working with centuries-old methods such as acupuncture, and combining this knowledge and skill with intuitive techniques, Laura has helped clients overcome both mental and physical symptoms by treating the body as a whole, rather than targeting symptoms as Western medicine often does.

Acupuncture is the practice of inserting thin, almost imperceptible needles into specific points across the body – with the goal of removing chemical (or Qi) blockages. The practice of manipulating the mind and body in such a manner is around 4000 years old and is approved by various Western administrative boards, including the AMA, NIH, and NCCAM.

Clients who wish to begin acupuncture therapy will find that the process is comprehensive, and includes a full health review that goes over all of the body’s needs. During an initial consultation, Laura assesses the client’s concerns and will discuss with them her recommendations for treatment, whether that is acupuncture alone, or a combination of techniques which may include reiki, cupping, gwa sha, and others. At this time, Laura will also explain how frequently treatments may be required.

Acupuncture services from Laurel Wellness are well-suited to a range of health concerns. Many clients request acupuncture to aid with physical aches and pains such as lower back pain, sciatica, migraines, and rheumatoid arthritis. The practice is also commonly used for women’s health issues such as fertility, to induce labor of correct breech presentation, and to help with menopausal symptoms. Others find acupuncture beneficial for improving anxiety, depression, and a range of other mental health concerns.
