Stories are divided into 4-6 chapters, which are further divided into 3-5 episodes, and appear in an interactive text style. The creators of the new Chapter by episode application believe that this form of storytelling will be more familiar to younger generations.

While synonymous with a popular movie title, the term ‘pulp fiction’ also refers to inexpensive fiction magazines that were popular between the 1890s and 1950s. The name came from the cheap wood pulp paper used by the publishers, and some issues sold as many as one million copies.

The digital age is characterized by smartphones and other electronic devices, and many now consider magazines to be a thing of the past. Adopting the concept of widely available, entertaining short stories, the recently launched application seeks to revive the concept of pulp fiction and bring it to a new generation of readers.

The stories are organized into text-style messages, and readers tap their screen to reveal the next ‘message’. A scroll-down function allows users to interact with the story in a similar fashion to the familiar format used in messaging applications.

The new platform is built on a simple and easy-to-use interface. After selecting a title, users pay $1 for the first chapter, with discounts offered should multiple chapters be purchased at once. This pay-as-you-go model allows users to choose the stories they find most engaging.
