Westminster,United States - June 28, 2022 /PressCable/ —
As U.S. COVID-related deaths top 1 million and new variants of the virus continue to emerge, one California Medicare health plan is encouraging those visiting residents of long-term care facilities to get vaccinated and boosted. Brand New Day, which offers its specially tailored Select Plan for those living in nursing homes and assisted living environments, says protections must be made to keep the 2.5 million residents living in those facilities safe from the virus.
The CDC reports that more than 200,000 long-term care facility residents and staff have died of COVID since the start of the pandemic. The agency is predicting a surge of new COVID variants that will be classified as “monitored,” “of interest,” “of concern” and “of high consequence.” There is evidence from laboratory studies that some immune responses driven by current vaccines could be less effective against some of these variants so those eligible for COVID-19 boosters should obtain them for added protection against infection and severe disease.
While the Department of Health and Human Services mandates healthcare workers including those at long-term living facilities to be vaccinated against COVID-19, many facilities are starting to require visitors to show proof of vaccination/boosters to ensure the safety of their residents.
Brand New Day works with independent brokers throughout the state and can arrange for an in-person appointment for those wanting to review the plans in their area. Brand New Day is a subsidiary of Bright HealthCare and Bright Health Group.
In addition to its Select Plan, Brand New Day offers its Embrace Plan for members with heart disease, hypertension and/or diabetes; Bridges Plan for members with dementia and Alzheimer’s; and Harmony Plan for members with mental illness including major depression, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder and paranoid disorder.
