Joanna Slusky, OD, an Optometrist with Halsted Eye Boutique - Eye See Ravenswood

New York City, New York Mar 14, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - Dr. Slusky is a highly experienced and dedicated optometrist who is passionate about providing personalized and patient-centered vision care to people in the Lakeview and Lincoln Park neighborhoods of Chicago. Her patients often praise her for her friendly and patient-focused approach to medicine, which has helped many of them achieve a level of visual clarity and comfort they never thought possible.
One of her key strengths is her ability to tailor her approach to each patient's specific needs and preferences. She takes the time to ask every patient how she can improve their lives, and she genuinely means it. Whether a patient spends most of their day looking at screens or on the road, she ensures they have the best possible solution for their unique situation.

Academically, Dr. Slusky completed her undergraduate education at Northwestern University and graduated magna cum laude from the Illinois College of Optometry. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association and was recently written up in Vision Monday Magazine.

Taking a holistic approach to medicine, she avoids jumping to prescribing medications and focuses on helping her patients achieve the clearest, most comfortable vision possible using the most appropriate resources available. Whether that means switching to more permeable contacts or ensuring glasses fit perfectly, she is committed to finding the best possible solution for each patient.

In addition to providing top-quality vision care, Dr. Slusky believes that educating patients about their eye health is just as important as treating and correcting their vision. She takes the time to explain any current conditions and makes sure her patients fully understand their eye health. She also makes an effort to educate children about their eye health and the importance of getting annual exams from a young age.

Optometry is a healthcare profession that involves examining the eyes and applicable visual systems for defects or abnormalities, as well as diagnosing and managing eye disease. Optometrists are healthcare professionals who provide primary eye care through comprehensive eye examinations to detect and treat various visual abnormalities and eye diseases. Being a regulated profession, an optometrist's scope of practice may differ depending on the location. Thus, disorders or diseases detected outside the treatment scope of optometry (i.e. those requiring certain surgical interventions) are referred out to relevant medical professionals for proper care, more commonly to ophthalmologists who are physicians that specialize in the tertiary medical and surgical care of the eye. Optometrists typically work closely together with other eye care professionals, such as ophthalmologists and opticians, to deliver quality and efficient eye care to the general public.

On a more personal note, Dr. Slusky attributes her success to being very detail-oriented when servicing her clients.
