ByBlacks.com Launches New Social Media Campaign

The Black History 365 campaign is highlighting Black historical figures, places, and stories every single day of the year, reports www.byblacks.com.

ByBlacks.com has announced the launch of their brand new social media campaign. The magazine has been using the hashtag #BlackHistory365 to highlight important Black figures, places, and stories in Canadian history every single day for one year. Roger Dundas, a representative of ByBlacks.com, commented "In Canada as in other places, people tend to confine the recognition of Black culture to the month of February. However, the Black community in Canada is vibrant and thriving 365 days a year, and we wanted to acknowledge that fact by celebrating those Black figures who have made and are continuing to make an impact on their communities and in the world. With the Black history curriculum being nearly nonexistent in Canadian schools, we see it as our duty to educate people about Black struggles and achievements."

The ByBlacks.com #BlackHistory365 campaign was launched on August 1st 2016 (which also happens to be Emancipation Day in Ontario), and it will run through August 1st 2017. Funded in part by The Canadian Periodical Fund, the social media campaign features both historical figures and present-day Canadian personalities, businesses, and organizations that are making strides in Canadian culture. The campaign coincides perfectly with the timing of Canada's 150th birthday as it gives Canadians the opportunity to include Black culture as part of that celebration.

As Dundas goes on to say, "Having been immersed in the Black History 365 campaign for the last six weeks, we can truly see how important the legacy of Black culture is to people all across Canada. Our posts have garnered a lot of likes, shares, re-tweets, and re-posts, which means that our followers are eager for more.
