In this new clinician’s guide launched by the British Dental Journal (BDJ) and edited by Dr. Saj Jivraj, dental professionals can find comprehensive explanations, examples, and illustrations to explain the latest graftless implant strategies for edentulous clients.

More information about clinician’s guides from the British Dental Journal, the editor Dr. Saj Jivraj, and the latest implant strategies for edentulous clients can be found at https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-031-32847-3

The new book, “Graftless Solutions for the Edentulous Patient” provides dental implant clinicians with a framework for using the latest techniques, and planning a graftless implant strategy for full arch restorations. The book contains contributions from several dental professionals who have helped to pioneer these advanced techniques and clinicians who provide these services regularly at their own practices.

Dr. Saj Jivraj, a contributor and editor of the latest edition, uses these graftless techniques at his practice, the Anacapa Dental Art Institute in Oxnard, CA, where he has become known for his All-On-4 procedure. This new implant strategy has helped Dr. Jivraj to provide his clients with fully implanted full arch restorations, using fewer implanted posts than the traditional method, and no bone grafting.

While the new techniques use fewer implanted posts, research suggests that they provide similar strength, stability, and longevity to traditional implants, due to the method used for implantation. A full explanation of the new technique using angled implants is available in the new clinician’s guide, with detailed illustrations for each step.

In “Graftless Solutions for the Edentulous Patient,” readers will also find detailed information about using advanced technology alongside these new techniques. The book explores the latest in digital dentistry, CADCAM manufacturing, and the use of advanced materials, such as Polyetheretherketone (PEEK).

Although it can be difficult to determine the longevity of implants placed using these new techniques without further research, some clinicians already using these strategies are providing warranties on the completed restorations. Dr. Jivraj has been providing clients with a warranty of 5 years for the implants themselves, and 10 years for the full arch restorations.

One reader explained, “The book covers the numerous approaches that can be taken when planning implants for the edentulous patient such as guided implant surgery, graftless surgery techniques, and immediate loading of these cases. The laboratory and prosthetic stages are well documented and the rationale of a particular choice of material is given great consideration.”
