Cindy Biggins-Joseph, a principal and educator of over three decades has completed her new book, "Cardinals Appear When Angels Are Near": an insightful look at how children work through grief and loss.
Biggins-Joseph shares, "Cardinals Appear When Angels Are Near takes you on a wonderful journey of love and the bond of DJ and PaPa's, (his grandfather) relationship as DJ grows from a baby to adolescence, then the revelation he experienced as an adult.
"The journey is full of love and teaching as PaPa steps in to raise DJ as his own after DJ's father passes before he was born and the challenges DJ faces when several tragedies happen to him as he grows up through Middle School and High School.
"Children who face the passing of a loved one, especially a parent or grandparent experience very serious challenges that some families must face.
"Kids manifest grief in a variety of ways and emotions, withdrawing from family and friends, crying, depression, failing at school, not eating, over-eating and even anger. Parents, in those times, when you just can't seem to find the right words to say or things to do to help the child that you love move forward, there is help in the healing process.
"I know firsthand how grief takes hold of you and you just can't seem to shake it no matter how hard you try. When my own mother passed in 2019, it took some time for me to be my normal self again, but with the assistance of friends, family, loved ones and professionals, slowly but surely, I made it back."
Published by Covenant Books of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Cindy Biggins-Joseph's new book was built on her own recollection of seeing a little red bird outside her window as an adult and knowing it was going to be a good day. After the loss of her own godmother and her fathers, Biggins-Joseph looked for the bird to show her that her loved ones are still here to ensure she would be alright.
Readers can purchase "Cardinals Appear When Angels Are Near" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes Store, Amazon or Barnes & Noble.
