The Center For Morton’s Neuroma Offers New treatment for Fat Pad Atrophy

The Center for Morton’s Neuroma announces new treatment for fat pad atrophy.

September 16, 2019 / / —

Fat pad atrophy is the loss of the fat cushioning in the balls of the feet. This leads to pain while walking, often starting with the sensation of having a rock in the shoe. Fat pad atrophy is fat tissue breakdown that does not repair or reverse with time. It is sometimes the result of natural aging but it may also be caused by cortisone injections, which are often used as a temporary pain relief for people with Morton’s neuroma foot pain or Metatarsalgia.

For a long time, fat pad atrophy has been incurable as the fat will not repair or regrow by itself. This has been a major issue for people with the condition whose foot bones have been more vulnerable as a result. But now, The Center for Morton’s Neuroma can offer a brand new treatment for fat pad atrophy: lipostem.

Lipostem is the painless injection of the patient’s own fat, together with their platelet-rich plasma, directly into their fat pad. The procedure is done under ultrasound guidance. The treatment has been developed from recent studies, which took fat from patient’s thighs or buttocks, together with platelet-rich plasma from a small blood sample, and showed a long term, positive effect to repair the fat atrophy. The results have been amazing, restoring comfort and function to people who had been struggling with the condition and who previously thought that there was no chance of recovery.

For patients at The Center for Morton’s Neuroma, lipostem is a simple, non-surgical solution that can be completed in a single, painless visit. First, the patient's blood is taken from the arm and is centrifuged (spun at high speed) to separate the platelet-rich plasma. While the blood is spinning, a small amount of fat is taken from the patient’s buttocks in a mini liposuction procedure. This is done under a local anesthetic and is completely painless. The fat is also processed on site and is then injected, with the plasma, into the fat pad area under ultrasound guidance. The whole process takes between 1 and 2 hours and full recovery takes up to 4 weeks but the results will last.

Judge: No slander in Alec Baldwin's comments on parking spat

Feb 26, 2020

NEW YORK — Alec Baldwin didn't slander a man in interviews about a parking dispute that turned physical, a judge has ruled as dueling lawsuits between the actor and the other driver continue. Baldwin's remarks — including claims that Wojciech Cieszkowski's driving was “really fast,” “really aggressive” and made the actor think his wife and son were about to be run over — were "hyperbole" and "rhetorical illustrations," Manhattan judge David B. Cohen wrote Thursday. “They are words of frustration with someone's driving,” not accusations that amount to slander, Cohen wrote. He tossed out Cieszkowski's slander claim, but his assault...
